SCI-CO+ NEWS – Ecsite – Conference 2023

Sci-Co+ at its first appointment with the international community at the Ecsite 2023 Conference

The new paradigms of science communication in science centres will be the subject of the session scheduled at the Ecsite Conference this Saturday 17 June in Malta.

How to strengthen the link with the public and stakeholders?

This is the first major appointment for the Erasmus+ Project “SCI-CO+ High Professional Skills for Advanced Scientific Communication” with the community of professionals belonging to Ecsite: the European network of science centres and museums that this year meets in Malta for its Annual Conference with the participation of over 1,000 delegates from all over the world.

The session will be an opportunity to discuss a crucial issue in recent years for science centres, that of the use of digital media, in which each of our institutions was suddenly involved after the first lockdown related to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Proposed by Città della Scienza and moderated by Marjolein van Breemen, Director of Naturalis-Dutch Center on Biodiversity, the session sees the participation of several partner institutions of the project including Luigi Amodio, Director of the Science Centre of the City of Science, Sofia Lucas, Head of Education at Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Ciência Viva in Portugal, Anna Gunnarsson, Director of Navet in Sweden, Joseph Roche, Professor of Educational  Sciences at Trinity College in Dublin  and Catherine Oualian, Explainer at Universcience, the institution that brings together Cité des Sciences e de l’Industrie and Palais de la Découverte in France.

The aim of the session is to discuss and develop new ideas, strategies and proposals for new models that will spread thanks to Sci-Co+ in training activities for future science communication professionals.
